Grandfather Mountain Games -- MacDougall Barbecue

The Chinese Year of the Pig began on February 18, 2007 and it is a wonderful time for the third annual Feast of Porky Campbell at the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games on July 14.  As in the past, the Feast will begin at 4:00 p.m. Saturday following the Games and last until at least 7:00 p.m.

Porky (or rather Porky, III) will be the guest of honour at the Banner Memorial Shelter on Sugar Mountain Road #2, seasoned with a wonderful barbecue sauce and accompanied by other side offerings.

Just up the road from the Banner Memorial Shelter at Gylen will be a few bottles of Cypress Bend Vineyard's popular red wine, "Campbell."  Symbolically, it could be considered the blood of Porky Campbell.  (www.cypressbendvineyards.com)

Members of Clan MacDougall Society and their guests are invited to attend the annual Feast.  There is no charge, but donations will be taken for Sugar Mountain Baptist Church for letting us use their wonderful picnic shelter.

It's not too early to start thinking . . . Once more I'll furnish Porky and the hush puppies (cornbread).  We'll need soft drinks, baked beans, cole slaw, and any other veggies.  Also, we'll need plates, napkins, and eating utensils.  If anyone wants to volunteer either of the above (plan on 100-150 people), simply e-mail me, and I'll put you on the list.
